Award-winning regional café Toast Pambula is offering a rare opportunity to join its long-serving team as Sous Chef. As the second Chef in a small team, you'll be working with our Head Chef to run a tight kitchen operation, performing a key leadership role in ensuring that expectations are exceeded and minds are blown every time a plate is sent off the pass. Bring a sense of adventure and keen interest in experimentation, as you'll be working with seasonal produce and contemporary café trends to produce creative dishes for blackboard specials, monthly dinners and catered events in our full service, licensed cafe.
Toast Pambula is an all-ages learning environment where everyone is supported to continue their journey wherever they are at. This senior position requires a clear and confident communicator who is resilient, organised and demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities.  
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Being the kitchen head when the Head Chef if not present. Training, guiding and managing other cooks, kitchenhands and dishes of various levels of experienceMaintaining all food safety standards, and acting a role model for best practiceContributing creatively to menu design and ensuring all menu items are appropriately costed and portioned, with wastage managedPlate and present all menu items as agreed upon with the Head ChefManage customer concerns and be adaptable to special requestsEnsure all procedures are up to date and adhered to by allManage supplier relationships, ordering and stock managementFind the balance you need to continue your passion for cooking but enjoy the things you love in life. You'll have an organised, full-time role with flexibility when you need it.
