Crowne Plaza Hobart is on the lookout for an exceptional Sous Chef to join our team. This is a leadership role within the kitchen supporting our new Executive Chef and an exciting opportunity for those passionate about leading a team who everyday deliver memorable dining experiences with fine local produce, handled with contemporary flare.
In this role you'll be the go-to person, leading kitchen activities on shift and preparing our delicious food and helping create memorable menus and experiences for guests. You'll work collaboratively with the Executive Chef with a focus on our Restaurant, Bars and In Room Dining offering; however, will work collaboratively across all parts of the kitchen including supporting banquet production as required.
Your day to day Create a positive rhythm in the kitchen that creates stability and cohesion to meet the demanding needs of the hotel environmentYou'll make sure our dishes are always at their best, you will play a critical role in making sure the dining experience is special and memorable for guestsWork closely with the Executive Chef on menu development, team processes, costing and trainingContribute to departmental administration, forecasts, plans, and departmental production reports for managementOrder and manage stock responsibly in accordance with IHG's purchasing policy and approachEnsure all aspects of the kitchen environment are hygienic, HACCP compliant and equipment is working properlyAnswer guest and colleague questions about dishes and kitchen services to develop and maintain product knowledgeWhat we need from you Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery is desirable3 years' leadership experience in kitchen operations and the ability to do all sections competentlyPractical understanding of WHS, Food Safety & HACCP regulationsNext level organisation and problem solving skillsAbility to coach and mentor to build strength in the teamAttention to detail and great time managementTeam player with a collaborative approach to workStrong attention to detail, written and communication skillsWillingness to work in the business as well as on the businessFull working rights in Australia.
