Primary Purpose
As a Solution Architect, you will support the delivery of business outcomes by working closely with project and business teams to develop architectural solutions that are aligned with business strategy and architectural principles and standards.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Work within project teams to create and update architectural artefacts such as conceptual designs, high level designs, architectural assessments, and options papers.
Apply technology strategy principles to decision making within architectural designs.
Evaluate new technologies, vendors and services for alignment with established architectural and security standards, providing recommendations based on findings.
Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the organisation, fostering collaboration to gain insights into their requirements and fostering trust in your recommendations on new and changed requirements with architectural impacts.
Work with technology teams to support detailed design and implementation of solutions, ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations and achievement of planned outcomes.
Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure solutions are understood, accepted, and endorsed by the appropriate governance forums e.g. the Architecture Governance Forum (AGF).
Contribute to the maintenance of architectural assets based on changes in business strategy, requirements, and industry regulations, ensuring they stay relevant to business needs and IT standards.
Monitor industry technology trends and inform the team on any impacts or opportunities identified, with suggestions on how to avoid/implement as appropriate.
Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is essential.
At least 5 years' industry experience as a Solution architect.
Excellent stakeholder communication and engagement skills.
Experience writing, socialising, and gaining formal endorsement of architectural documents.
Architecture/implementation experience across multiple integration projects and engagements using both internal delivery teams and external delivery partners.
Track record of developing solutions that are maintainable and secure.
Experience evaluating and selecting vendor products e.g. via RFPs, etc.
Experience working with BAs to ensure high quality of business and technical requirements.
Good working knowledge of agile (SCRUM) software/product delivery and lean working practices.
Good working knowledge of the security considerations in solutions developed.
Digital Architecture experience will be highly valued.
Technology and Cloud Architecture experience (AWS, Microsoft 365) will be highly valued.
