Architects (Information & Communication Technology) Education Services Australia (ESA) is a ministerial not-for-profit company committed to making a positive difference in the lives and learning of Australian students.
ESA delivers products and services for clients including the Australian government, State and Territory education authorities, and a variety of not-for-profit and government organisations.
Corporate ICT Services provide technology, vision and leadership in the development and implementation of the company-wide Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure and managed hosting services.
Why work with us Access to free Microsoft training and certifications Flexible Hybrid working - Work from home 60% of the time Offices in a convenient location in the heart of the CBD Spend up to 3 weeks working anywhere in the world The Solutions Architect will play a crucial role in leading and supporting ICT activities, guiding the development and management of a portfolio of solutions, including projects, systems, shared infrastructure services, and shared application services.
This position requires a high degree of autonomy, a deep understanding of technical infrastructure and underlying technologies, and interaction with external vendors and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities: Architecture Design: Develop technical roadmaps for future Cloud implementations and on-premises uplift.
Networking: Design and configure networking components such as virtual networks, subnets, load balancers, VPN gateways, and Express Route.
Identity and Access Management (IAM): Implement secure identity and access management solutions using Azure Active Directory / Entra, including RBAC, MFA, and SSO protocols.
Office365 Expertise: Design solutions for Autopilot, Intune, and Microsoft Defender within the Office365 stack.
Cloud and Hybrid Solutions: Develop end-to-end solutions encompassing infrastructure, applications, security, and performance using Azure, Office365, and Hybrid (VMware) services.
Documentation: Create architectural diagrams, documentation, and presentations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Backup and Recovery: Experience with Veeam for backups, restore, and disaster recovery processes.
Compliance: Ensure solutions comply with Essential 8 and IRAP requirements.
Innovation: Stay current with cloud services and technologies, providing thought leadership.
Technical Guidance: Lead technical discussions and provide guidance to development and operations teams.
Performance Assessment: Conduct regular performance assessments of ESA Cloud and Hybrid environments.
Security: Ensure solutions are designed with strong security measures and compliance with industry standards.
Stakeholder Liaison: Communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
Azure Landing Zones: Implement and refactor Azure Landing Zones to meet business needs and optimize deployment environments.
Architecture Design: Proficiency in designing hybrid cloud architectures.
Networking: Expertise in designing and configuring networking components.
IAM: Knowledge of Azure Active Directory / Entra and secure identity and access management solutions.
Office365: Experience with MDM, Intune, Autopilot, Teams, Share Point, Exchange Online, Defender.
Hybrid Environments: Ability to design solutions that integrate on-premises infrastructure with Azure using technologies like Azure Site Recovery in combination with VMware platforms.
Storage Solutions: Knowledge of Azure storage options and their implementation.
Monitoring and Management: Proficiency in using Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, Application Insights, and Azure Automation tools.
Azure Landing Zones: Experience with implementing Azure Landing Zones to optimize and meet business requirements inline with supported frameworks.
Cost Management: Design cost-effective solutions using cost management tools.
Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills for working with stakeholders and presenting technical solutions.
Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Project Management: Ability to manage projects and guide teams through the solution lifecycle.
Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
Mentoring: Proven capability to mentor and train team members.
Experience with SSO protocols such as CAS, SAML, and OAuth.
Experience with containerization and open-source products.
Experience with security frameworks like ISO 27001, IRAP.
Proven ability to research, select, and evaluate technologies.
