About the role
The School of Law is seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Solicitor/Clinical Supervisor. The Solicitor/Clinical Supervisor will work in the WSU Justice Clinic (WSUJC) and/or offsite with WSUJC partners on legal advice, casework, law reform, and community legal education relevant to the WSU Justice Clinic.
You will work with WSU School of Law students in a best practice experiential learning model including a therapeutic jurisprudence practice framework and will work under the supervision of the Director & Principal Solicitor and other senior lawyers employed in the WSU Justice Clinic.
About You
The successful candidate will hold a current NSW legal practising certificate with 2-5 years of post-qualification experience as a Solicitor, specialising in community lawyering and access to justice work. You have a proven track record of supervising students or others in a legal environment, and possibly experience in clinical teaching or a tertiary education setting. Your ability to practice law collaboratively with other professions and stakeholders to achieve therapeutic and holistic outcomes for clients is well-documented. You have demonstrated experience working effectively and respectfully with young people, individuals with disabilities, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse or marginalised communities. Your background includes significant experience in law reform and policy work. You possess well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills, enabling you to liaise effectively with students, clients, management, staff, and external agencies, and to establish professional relationships.
Working with Children Check: It is a mandatory requirement for any incumbent of this position to have a current NSW Employee Working with Children Clearance in accordance with the NSW Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
