Child Welfare, Youth & Family Services (Community Services & Development)
The Social Worker will provide effective trauma informed therapeutic care work, counselling and support services for clients in various programs across our regional footprint in accordance with program requirements.
As a Social Worker you will:
Maintain and develop a professional relevant service within the region including referral procedures and reporting.Identify gaps in the delivery and use of services for families and individuals.Provide information, support, referral and assessments to clients in relation to their presenting needs.Liaise with other organisations to ensure that client's needs are met and we are utilising a true wrapping of services and warm referral pathways.Develop educative group/community work initiatives that are responsive to the current and changing needs of the local community.Facilitate and deliver community education programs.Attend Critical Incidents and provide Employee Assistance Program (EAP) solution-focused counselling.Maintain client records, formulate reports, implement evaluation procedures and collect relevant data in accordance with Centacare Catholic Country SA and funding body requirements.This is a full-time contracted position until 30 June 2025 with the possibility of extension and is based in Port Lincoln, South Australia.

A degree level qualification in Social Work or appropriate other Human Services field reflective of the services offered by Centacare.
(Current students in their third or final year of their qualification are also encouraged to apply).Experience in trauma informed therapeutic case work, counselling and support services utilising a high level of skills.Experience in developing and facilitating groups, presentations and workshops.
(A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is desirable but not essential).Sound knowledge of a range of practice theories and therapeutic interventions, and issues around family relationships and separation, family violence, suicide ideation, peer pressure, bullying, self-esteem, drug and/or alcohol abuse, mental health and mental illness.Demonstrated ability to work with and be sensitive to the differing needs of people from various culturally diverse groups.High level of ability to negotiate and communicate well, both verbally and in writing.High level organisational and time management skills.Demonstrated ability to work in a highly confidential manner.Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and Information Technology.Requirements of the role: Hold (or willingness to obtain) a current DHS Working With Children Check – don't worry, we can support this process if necessary!Hold (or a willingness to obtain) a National Criminal History Record Check (Police Check)Hold a current South Australian Driver's License (minimum Provisional Licence)Centacare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
