Job Description The main focus of the position is to provide vocational and/or professional counselling to job seekers to assist overcoming significant barriers to finding employment.
About the Role As a Social Worker, you will work with our participants to provide support, such as mental health support, access to social services, sourcing of temporary accommodation, parenting support, life skills training, and referral to specialist health services.
Working within this unique context, the successful applicant will actively participate and contribute to the development of a positive culture aimed towards providing appropriate services for the long-term unemployed; which could include completing assessments, planning and implementing intervention programs as well as providing opportunities for success.
A considerable percentage of the participants you will be supporting are suffering social isolation, depression, or addiction and require support to rebuild their self-esteem and independence.
Sound counselling skills are essential, preferably with some experience working by phone.
Desired Skills and Experience About You Applicants must hold a degree or graduate diploma in social work, behavioural or social science, counselling or other allied health field, and where required hold relevant registrations or professional membership. To be successful, you will have a strong ability to build and maintain rapport with our participants and team members; building trust through the use of open communication; and adapting methods of engagement to meet individual needs.
A National Police check and Working with Children check is required upon commencement of this role.
