About the Role: Join our team as a Grade 3 social worker in a part time (0.8) permanent role with our Monash Newborns and Paediatric teams at Monash Children's Hospital, based at Clayton.
This is a unique opportunity to join the Allied Health team at Monash Children's Hospital.
It is an integral role within a supportive & professional team.
Specialising in Neonatal Intensive Care, Special Care Nursery and General PaediatricsJoin one of Australia's leading paediatric hospitalsSome on-call (after hours) work with excellent opportunities for skill developmentAbout Us: Social Workers at Monash Children's Hospital are part of the broader Monash Children's Allied Health Team, and together we provide specialised services to infant, paediatric and adolescent patients and their families.
Social work services are provided in inpatient settings including Paediatric ICU, Children's Cancer Centre, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; in ambulatory care services such as the Department of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes and we work closely with state-wide services such as the Paediatric Palliative Care Program and the Victorian Forensic Paediatric Medical Service.
This senior social work role will provide leadership to the paediatric social workers at Monash Children's Hospital primarily within our Newborn services but also across certain Paediatric teams.
Monash Newborns encompasses the State's largest Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) and Special Care Unit (SCN) and provides an exciting, busy and supportive work environment.
The senior social worker plays an integral role in providing support and education to the paediatric social work team as well as guiding quality initiatives and/or research.
This is a fast-paced role within a team where social work is highly valued.
About You: To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:
Dynamic and flexible team memberExcellent knowledge of resources and understanding of the assessment and intervention frameworks used to guide practice, specifically when working in paediatrics, as well as familiarity with the Children Youth and Families Act.Advanced skills in psychosocial/risk assessments, problem solving and excellent communication skills.Proficient knowledge of end-of-life issues in newborns and paediatrics and be able to provide grief and bereavement support.You will be provided with training and required to participate in Social Work on-call after hour's service across the Monash Hospital sites.What you will need: Bachelor of Social Work or Masters Social Work Qualifying OR Master of Social Work, OR equivalent as assessed and approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)Experience in an acute health care setting and/or with children and families and/or with Child ProtectionExtensive experience in clinical social workIn Return: Receive corporate benefits such as salary packaging, access to staff parking, on site Gym, and Employee Assistance ProgramAccess to Monash Health in-house learning portals to further expand your clinical skills and knowledge baseBe part of a supportive and inclusive teamOpportunities to participate in Quality and Research projectsMentorship and career guidanceFor a confidential discussion and to explore the opportunity further, please call Jennifer Ward on 0466 730 ***.
