Public Sector People are working with a Government Client South Brisbane. We are is seeking a SOCIAL PLANNER on a 12-month temp contract position to join an exciting team.
This role suits someone who likes variety and is passionate about Social Planning and policy working within the community. No day will be the same. Working with multiple internal and external Stakeholders.

Responsibilities will include:
Social Policy Development - Develop strategic social policies addressing current and emerging social issues. Focus on socially disadvantaged groups within a social justice framework.Social Planning - Prepare strategic social planning initiatives to meet community needs. Provide social planning advice to internal and external stakeholders.Community Facilities Strategy - Develop and implement the departments Community Facilities Strategy for infrastructure planning.Community Plans - Develop and implement community plans for master, structure, and local plans.Social Impact Assessment - Provide social impact assessment advice for development and licensing applications. Develop guidelines for social impact assessments.Land Use Planning - Inform land use planning with advice on social sustainability.Research and Profiling - Identify socio-economic trends and provide advice on social needs. Research and prepare demographic and social indicator information.Data Management - Coordinate and promote the organization's electronic demographic data facility. Operate and utilize GIS, C data, and other demographic tools.Community Engagement- Engage with government agencies, community stakeholders, and business representatives. Develop and maintain professional networks to inform the clients initiatives.Capacity Building - Contribute to the clients capacity for community consultation and engagement within a social justice framework. Support the development of policies, strategies, and workbooks for community engagement.
About you:
Previous Government Experience highly valued.Previously worked in a similar role - highly desirablePossession of a formal qualification in social planning, the social sciences, or a related discipline.capacity to undertake social research, work independentlyAnalyze data and information around impact assessment and interpretation of data, including statistical information, to contribute to and influence informed decision making processes in response to social issues.Demonstrated understanding of community engagement processes and the ability to develop organizational capacity to undertake and implement community engagement processes for planning projectsDemonstrated capacity to engage successfully with internal stakeholders, State, Federal and Local Government agenciesand other external agencies in the development of responses which promote positive social planning outcomes
