Our Local Government client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Social Planner to coordinate and lead strategic social planning initiatives that address identified community needs and issues. This role plays a pivotal part in shaping positive social outcomes for the Logan community through proactive engagement and planning.
Key Responsibilities: Coordinate, facilitate, and prepare a range of strategic social planning initiatives in response to identified social and community needs. Provide expert social planning advice to internal and external stakeholders to ensure positive community outcomes. Contribute proactive and strategic input into Council's Planning Scheme and other land use planning strategies. Monitor and implement Council's Community Infrastructure Strategy and support the Land for Community Facilities Network within the Local Government Infrastructure Plan. Lead feasibility studies for new and existing community facilities within the infrastructure network. Support the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of strategies and services aligned with Council's community facilities and social infrastructure goals. Performance Criteria: Provide specialized advice and guidance in social planning. Proactively identify emerging issues within Council affecting social planning. Collaborate effectively with other Council sections to achieve integrated outcomes. Social Impact Assessment: Coordinate and provide social impact assessment advice for Development Applications, Gaming, Adult Entertainment, and Liquor Licensing Applications, Master Plans, and Local Area Plans. Guide key client groups, both internal and external, on social impact assessment guidelines. Inform the development of Planning Instruments through advice on social sustainability. Research and Profiling: Identify socio-economic trends and areas of social need, providing relevant advice to Councillors and stakeholders. Research and prepare demographic and social indicator information to support Council's strategic social outcomes. Assist in managing the organization's demographic data facility and promote its use through training and support. Community Engagement: Engage with State, Federal, and Local Government agencies, Councillors, business representatives, community sector agencies, and stakeholders in developing community infrastructure solutions. Build and maintain professional networks to inform Council's research, policy development, and planning mechanisms. Support the development of Council's capacity to conduct community consultation processes within a social justice framework. Health and Safety Responsibilities: Actively contribute to health, safety, and wellbeing activities, policies, and procedures in the workplace. Requirements: Tertiary qualifications in planning, policy development, social sciences, or a related discipline, or extensive demonstrable experience. Experience in social research, impact assessment, and data interpretation for informed decision-making. Understanding of planning processes and legislative frameworks at various Government levels. Strong community engagement skills and ability to develop organizational capacity for community consultation. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce complex reports and briefing materials. Success Profile: Demonstrated ability in providing evidenced social planning advice and managing complex projects. Proficiency in project management, negotiation, and networking in a stakeholder and legislative environment. Valid "C" class driver's license and compliance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000.
