We're looking for someone who gets politics but also gets the algorithm. Your day-to-day would involve making videos and memes, explainers, breaking news content, events promotion and adapting all kinds of activities for social media content. You'll feed into strategy and also evaluate what's working and what needs to change.
This role will work closely with other social media content producers and the communications team, as well as working directly with candidates, staff and volunteers in Victoria.
The Victorian Greens strongly encourage people with diverse lived experience to apply, such as First Nations People, people of colour, LGBTQIA+ folks, disabled people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, even if you feel your professional experience doesn't match all of the selection criteria. The Greens recognise that structural barriers make it difficult for some people to obtain roles in the progressive movement. When assessing candidates we look at more than just the jobs you've been paid to do but the range of ways you've picked up skills and knowledge throughout your life.
In this role you will be a part of a team that will:
Develop, plan and execute engaging video and graphic content across all Victorian Greens social media channels, with an emphasis on candidate video for TikTok and InstagramDevelop and pitch content ideas that stay ahead of trends, cultural moments and other opportunities with the digital team, to create timely and authentic content.Manage online communities by engaging with our followers in the DMs and comment sections.Support volunteers to contribute their own high-quality content by training, coordinating and feeding back on their work.Flag emerging risks on social media platformsOther work as needed: as a part of a small, agile team, you will be asked to contribute to other work from time-to-time, always with the support of experienced staffSelection criteriaWe encourage you to apply even if you don't have all of the relevant skills. We're looking for someone organised and thorough and with passion for our movement, which we prioritise over formal education or qualifications.
We believe there is strength in diversity and are committed to supporting the right person to grow into this role and thrive.
