headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples' wellbeing.
This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support, and alcohol and other drug services. About the role The Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Worker is a key member of the multi-disciplinary team providing culturally responsive support to young people and their families with a focus on wellbeing and empowerment.
The position will work with young people with, or at risk of developing, complex mental health needs by strengthening the understanding of mental health issues and pathways to support and increasing the level of participation in headspace programs.
The position will incorporate the delivery of work and study supports to young people in collaboration with clinical staff to support them in gaining employment or engaging in education while strengthening relationships with local Aboriginal services and building community awareness.
About you You will have previous experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds, including the ability to provide practical tools to enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to reach their personal and professional goals.
A demonstrated understanding of engaging with young people, particularly in areas of mental health and substance abuse intervention, including intake and clinical assessment of young people aged 12 to 25 years, is also desirable.
