Social and Emotional Wellbeing Clinical Lead and Aftercare SupportAbout the RoleAn Aboriginal Medical Service based in sunny Broome has an exciting position available as a Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Clinical Lead and Aftercare Support. This is a full-time, fixed term role until June 2025.
The SEWB Clinical Lead and Aftercare Support role (Clinical Lead) will work from the SEWB framework and model of care to provide clinical leadership and support to the SEWB and Mental Health teams at the organisation, in the provision of services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members in the region. The Clinical Lead will also provide guidance, consultation and support to member services and other Kimberley Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) when available, to help support the strategic priorities for the SEWB service system in the region.
The Clinical Lead, in partnership with the SEWB Cultural Lead and Aftercare Support role will be employed by the practice to effectively engage, assess, screen and coordinate services to Aboriginal community members accessing the Aftercare and SEWB services. The Clinical Lead will work in partnership with the headspace Broome Clinical Lead role to ensure clinical governance is maintained for SEWB services delivered by the organisation and that processes are in place to maintain National Standards for Mental Health Services quality accreditation.
The Clinical Lead will provide SEWB interventions, psycho-education, support and advocacy to community members and their families fostering an environment that ensures all service users feel welcome, comfortable, safe, valued and understood. The role will have a particular focus on development and implementation of the SEWB Kimberley Aftercare model for the region, and provide clinical leadership in the service delivery of Aftercare services and Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid (AMHFA) training.
The role will also provide clinical guidance and leadership in model development workshops and consultations with key stakeholders such as WA Police, WA Country Health Services (hospitals and mental health), member services, community patrols, clinics and other stakeholders. The role will provide Aftercare support services to individuals and families who are experiencing or have recently experienced a suicidal crisis, in accordance with the agreed regional model of care.
The Clinical Lead will also participate in the NACCHO Aftercare Services Community of Practice to support ACCHOs in setting up and maintaining Aftercare Services, and facilitate sharing of best practice and expertise. From time to time duties will include other tasks as directed by the line manager in support of operational needs and organisation strategic objectives.

Experience and qualifications Previous experience providing Mental Health or SEWB supports for Aboriginal communities.Relevant qualification in Mental Health and/or Social and Emotional Wellbeing.Certified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander MHFA Instructor with MHFAA, or commitment to undertaking training to become certified by MHFAA within probationary period.Demonstrated experience in Mental Health and/or Social and Emotional Wellbeing.Well-developed interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to maintain client confidentiality at all times within and outside the workplace.A 'C' Class Driver's License.Federal Police Clearance.A willingness to regularly travel by 4WD vehicle and light aircraft will be required.What's on offerAttractive Salary Package of $134,000 per annum pro rata.This package range includes:
Base salary ACCHS award $91,359.10.5% Superannuation.Annual leave loading of 17.5% paid on 4 weeks of annual leave.Remote area allowances including electricity, housing and district allowances.Annual flight entitlement paid as cash on completion of 12 months service.In addition to the above mentioned package also on offers is:
