Applications Close: 1 December 2024 Come and join our Surgeons here in Cooma! An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified Fellow of RACS, Specialist General Surgeon to join the team at Cooma Hospital, part of the Southern NSW LHD.
Where you'll be working Cooma Hospital and Health Service is part of the Inland Network. It is a 14-bed acute hospital and offers emergency medicine; surgery (orthopaedics, gynaecology, gastroenterology, general surgery and obstetrics); inpatient services; maternity, surgical and paediatric (24 hours) beds; renal dialysis; outpatient oncology; pathology collection; pharmacy; and medical imaging (x-ray, CT and ultrasound).
The gateway to the Snowy Mountains, the gold rush town of Cooma is the largest in the region, and a popular stop for snow lovers on their way to the ski fields. You can also fish for trout in crystal clear mountain streams and explore the beautiful alpine countryside.
What you'll be doing Provide contemporary comprehensive specialist services for optimal patient outcomes.Provide and support training to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.You will be employed by Southern NSW Local Health District. The position is primarily located at the facility applied for. Secondary appointments within other facilities may occur by mutual agreement.Progress your career and discover all that Cooma has to offer Our Offer: Flexible work arrangementsCorporate Health and Fitness programRemuneration – VMOMinimum Requirements: Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Surgeon and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.Demonstrated recent clinical experience in General Surgery at the role delineation of the service.Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team in line with CORE values.Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time if required.Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases
This is a Category 'A' position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
