Southern NSWLHD comprises four Networks: Tablelands (centred around Goulburn), Monaro (centred around Queanbeyan and Cooma), the Coastal Network (located in the far south-east corner of NSW), and the Integrated Care Network.
G O U L B U R N The Goulburn Base Hospital has recently moved into its state-of-the-art Clinical Services Building in December 2021. Goulburn now boasts a new Level 4 Emergency Department, a Level 4 ICU, and new Operating Theatres.
Our ED sees approximately 20,000 presentations per year, of which 10-15% of cases are Paediatrics, with a 25% admission rate. The ED workforce is staffed with Senior, Permanent, and Casual CMOs, and the ICU is staffed with Senior, Permanent, and Casual CMOs.
There are new Paediatric, General Medical, and Surgical Wards with purpose-built negative flow areas and a Rehabilitation Ward. Services provided include 24/7 Emergency Care, General Medicine, General and Orthopaedic Surgery, Paediatrics, Maternity, and Rehabilitation Medicine.
What you'll be doing The Obstetrician and Gynaecologist will provide expert medical assessment and management of patients in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) Service within Southern New South Wales Local Health District. The Obstetrician and Gynaecologist is responsible for the provision of specialist services to emergency patients, inpatients, and outpatients.
The Obstetrician and Gynaecologist will proactively:
Support the development of O&G services.Support and facilitate a culture of learning and best practice.Selection Criteria: Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and/or equivalent specialist recognition.Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.Significant experience in O&G with demonstration of competency working independently with complex emergencies and limited support.Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high-quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality improvement activities relevant to the specialty.Demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students and other staff of the hospital.Demonstrate the skills and attitudes appropriate as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team across multiple sites.Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and SNSWLHD Values, goals, and strategies.Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases This is a Category 'A' position. Applicants must have completed the COVID-19 vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
