Who We Are Skytrans is an Australian based passenger airline and a member of Avia Solutions Group, the world's largest ACMI provider (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance).
We have been serving regional Queensland as well as the Cape and the Torres Strait region for over thirty years. Through this, we have extensive experience providing air services to our diverse customer base, across a fleet of 13 aircraft comprising Caravan and Dash aircraft (and airbus incoming!). With over 250 staff and a head office in Cairns, we have bases in Brisbane, Townsville, Rockhampton, Horn Island, and soon to be Sydney.

About the role This is an opportunity for a self-motivated individual with qualifications in accounting and finance. The Assistant Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department and will assist the Financial Accountant and Chief Financial Officer with reporting and governance of the organisation.
This role may be suitable for someone who has previous experience or recently graduated.
Key Duties Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the role is offered on a full-time basis and will typically see you:
Maintaining financial ledgers and accounting processes Assisting in the preparation of Monthly Consolidated P&L and Balance Sheet Assisting in the timely production of statutory and internal financial reports Ensuring appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained Assisting in the timely compliance of statutory requirements, viz. preparation and submission of tax returns, etc. Assisting in supporting external auditors Assisting the Management Accountant and CFO in preparation of Budgets, Forecasts and Cash flows Assisting the Financial Accountant in relation to the ongoing refinement and improvement of the policies, procedures What You Need to Succeed: Have a good understanding of Australian Accounting Standards/International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Comprehensive understanding of financial management and the processes, systems and procedures that underpin the accurate management and control of the general ledger, including: Bank accounts and lease management Governance, risk and compliance requirements as they relate to medium size organisations Reconciliation of accounts Ability to work autonomously as part of a team at a senior level The ability to proactively develop systems/products and procedures The ability to sense and maintain a high level of customer service standards Ability to use analysis to resolve complex accounting issues Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills A reputation of maintaining discretion and confidentiality You must be eligible to live and work in Australia as either a citizen or permanent resident, or currently hold an appropriate visa.
