This role is based at Perisher, the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere, located in the beautiful Snowy Mountains region of South-Eastern NSW and just a two-hour drive from Canberra and the Far South Coast.
Perisher is part of Vail Resorts who own and operate ski areas including iconic resorts such as Perisher, Falls Creek and Hotham in Australia as well as Park City, Beaver Creek, Whistler Blackcomb and Vail in North America.
The Skitube Alpine Railway is a vital part of our operations and is a rack/cog railway of Swiss design providing all-weather access to the resort, travelling from Bullocks Flat to Perisher Valley and Blue Cow Mountain.
It has one of the longest underground train tunnels in Australia and travels as deep as 550m underground.
We require a competent, self-motivated individual who works well in a team environment.
The role is heavily based around train maintenance which is the main focus of the available position and trade qualifications in Electro Technology Systems and a current NSW Electrical Qualified Supervisors Licence is required.
Other qualifications in rail, PLC'S and overhead line work would be advantageous but not required.
Training will be given in all areas that relate to rail safety work.
The successful applicant will be required to gain and maintain a level of fitness and health including good eyesight and hearing to satisfy the Health Assessment criteria for this Rail Safety Work.
A pre-employment medical will be required for the successful applicant to be able to commence this role.
The primary aim of this role is to carry out the relevant daily, weekly, monthly and annual inspections and electrical maintenance and repairs on rolling stock and railway infrastructure.
All works must be performed in accordance with the requirements of the Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS) and ensure that all associated documentation is completed, properly controlled and filed.
In a typical day in this role, you might: Attend to breakdowns and other electrical inspections and maintenance as directed Complete routine and preventative maintenance on Skitube assets including rolling stock and perway equipment Provide or assist with electrical inspection and maintenance services to The Station resort, and terminals at Bullocks Flat and Perisher as directed Complete project work on Skitube assets Complete relevant reporting and recording of work and events carried out or observed Ensure all maintenance and or inspection documentation is properly authorised, completed and filed.
To be considered for this role, you should have: Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrical supervisors licence Experience in a railway environment or heave industry is desirable, training will be considered for the right applicant A current unrestricted Driver's Licence High voltage experience is desirable, training will be considered for the right applicant A current First Aid certificate.
