We are recruiting a Site Safety Manager for the Carmichael Mine, which is a 10mtpa coal mine located north-west of Clermont in central Queensland.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting into the Head of Operations, the Site Safety Manager will effectively manage, implement and improve the Safety Health & Management System (SHMS) to meet the operations objectives and legislative requirements.
The role includes ensuring operating contractors management standards and practices are in accordance with relevant legislation and Carmichael Coal Mine (CCM) requirements, and developing a safety culture that ensures accountability, ownership, and responsibility across the site.
Responsibilities of the role include:
Maintain & regularly review all components of the Carmichael Mine Safety & Health Management System both electronic & hardcopy.
Ensure system audits are undertaken, and non-conformances are identified and rectified.
Provide oversight and guidance to all stakeholders in the implementation of the SHMS.
Provide guidance to SSE & senior personnel on the implementation & application of the SHMS.
Provide direct guidance to safety team in implementing & applying the SHMS.
Accountability for maintenance and upgrade of the site selected online compliance system.
Manage site appointments and Mine Record Register.
Manage DNRME Safety Alert promulgating to site workers as required.
Maintaining currency with legislation and industry standards managing site safety.
Develop & maintain Carmichael Mine Broad Brush Risk Assessment (BBRA) for all activities on site.
Development & implement a comprehensive training management matrix with an internal Training Needs Analysis.
Liaise with management during the initial on-boarding of subcontractor companies.

Other qualifications and attributes required include:
Minimum of 10 years' experience in the coal and resources industry.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role.
Tertiary qualifications in safety and risk.
Auditing qualifications and experience.
Investigation qualifications and experience.
Demonstrable and proven ability in working within fast moving and outcome-oriented work environments.
Working knowledge and experience of safety and risk legislation.
Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
