About the role
McConnell Dowell Constructors Aust. Pty Ltd are seeking a Mechanical Site Engineer to join this unique green energy project located in Kidston, North QLD. The Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro project is the first of its kind in Australia in more than 40 years and will be the country's third-biggest electricity storage facility.
The position of Site Engineer sits on this long-term project with future opportunities available within the wider McConnell Dowell business.
About the Project
K2-Hydro is the flagship project of the Kidston Clean Energy Hub, an iconic renewable energy project located 270 km north-west of Townsville in North Queensland. It will utilise an abandoned gold mine that is integrated and co-located with the Kidston 50MW Solar Farm to generate, store and dispatch renewable energy on demand during peak periods.
Your Opportunity
We are currently seeking applications for the position of Project Engineer, to support construction activities for the underground power station.
2:1 FIFO roster. Attractive remuneration package and benefits. Camp facilities include Pool, Gym, Basketball court and Tennis court. Commercial flights provided to Cairns, then Charter plane to Kidston. Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Coordinating with Managers and Superintendents on Engineering, temporary works, scheduling and status of the project. Providing overall progress reports and other reports related to schedule and cost as required by the Project Manager. Raising eMPR's and AFE's for all responsible expenditure prior to committing. Raise internal variations for approval for all contracted works prior to works commencing. Review subcontractor progress claims to verify works completed. Provide general technical assistance to supervisory personnel. Prepare reports on progress, manpower and costs and coordinate the work scheduling and procurement. About you Relevant Mechanical Engineering tertiary qualification. Previous experience in delivering construction projects; power generation projects highly regarded. Competent in planning and organising work schedules and a demonstrated ability to deliver to timelines; Sound working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same. Strong and clear communication skills with proven ability to engage others. Don't tick all the boxes but you're still excited about this opportunity?
