About the Role Base Location: Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Dounreay or Orkney with regular travel on-site to Caithness and Orkney
Salary: £40,600 - £61,000 + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Onsite rotational work pattern with potential of 10 days on & 4 days off
As a Site Construction Manager at SSEN Transmission, you will spearhead the construction of a vital substation at Finstown or Dounreay as part of our broader initiative to connect Orkney to the UK grid for the first time.
You'll be crucial in managing this 220/132KV Substation from the ground up, thereby ensuring strict adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
The key duties & responsibilities will include: Represent the SSEN Transmission business on-site and be the key site-based point of contact, this will also include interfacing with contractors, and key stakeholders at site.Ensure all site operations align with statutory, legal, and company's Health and Safety regulations, alongside Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.Collaborate closely with the appointed contractor(s) and the Operations team to ensure the works are delivered to the project programme, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.Monitor compliance with planning consents and SHE legislation, maintain routine reporting and oversight of site performance against set KPIs.Develop effective relationships with contractors, suppliers and the community, act as a site leader championing a positive safety culture.What do I need? To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
Notable experience in on-site management or supervision working on the construction, maintenance, and commissioning of high voltage substation equipment.In-depth understanding of health, safety, and CDM 2015 Regulations, ideally within a high voltage construction setup.Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple contractors/subcontractors to adhere to project timelines and budgets effectively.Previous experience in quality monitoring through inspection and test plans.Strong communication skills with the ability to challenge others along with experience in resolving conflicts and planning site activities.Please note, a full current driving licence is essential due to the requirement to travel to and be on site.
