This role can be based in either Canberra or Sydney. The Associate Director Satellite Business Development - Defence is responsible for the prospecting, proposal generation and closure of new business opportunities within our Defence and wider Commonwealth satellite portfolio.
Over and above new business generation, pro-active professional management, and expansion of existing contractual obligations from a sales and account management perspective will be required, as well as working with our operational Defence leads, such as Optus staff embedded within the ADF on a long-term basis.
Key Responsibilities: Maintain and develop the Defence Satellite strategic plan and wider Commonwealth engagement. Prospect, position & close new incremental Defence Business for Optus Satellite. Ensure that existing contractual obligations and revenue generation is underpinned and continuously evolved. Ensure that Optus Satellite retains its position as the primary Sovereign Satellite Solutions provider to The Commonwealth. Nurture and develop existing relationships within Defence & The Commonwealth as well as with internal peers. Prepare and ensure accurate forecasts, pipelines and budgets are available. Identify and recommend areas for profitable and sustainable growth within their portfolio's capability to support Optus Satellite's overall strategy and overall product life cycle management. Why you are our next Associate Director Satellite Business Development - Defence: Extensive years of industry sales and/or business development experience. Experience working with Defence or on Defence Accounts / BDM. Experience in relationship/strategic selling - preferably in Satellite, Space environments. Sound commercial and business acumen with experience in positioning value propositions to customers. Proven track record in achieving sales growth through acquisition strategies and business development sales and customer loyalty through strong relationships. A high level of general business acumen with the ability to communicate effectively at CTO, CIO, CFO and CEO levels. Must be an Australian Citizen (PR's unable to apply).
