Simulator Manager (Air Traffic Controller) Amberley QLD, Darwin NT, East Sale VIC, Williamtown NSW The key duties of the position include: The Role This position provides simulation packages and instruction to Air Traffic Control (ATC) trainees and is vital to ensure that the ATC training system is sustainably maintained.
The duties of an EL1 Simulator Manager (ATC) occupation in Defence include the following: Performing duties of an Air Traffic Controller as directed; Conducting and supervising ATC training as directed; Developing and delivering simulator training packages; Conducting and managing ATC training administration and documents; Managing and operating simulator resources; Managing and operating stand-alone computer-based simulator resources; Providing operator-level maintenance to stand-alone computer-based simulator resources; Conducting associated secondary duties as directed.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP).
This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.

This arrangement is subject to meeting eligibility criteria and is subject to annual review.
Should your performance fall beyond requirements or the eligibility criteria not be met, your eligibility for the BDCP may be reviewed and ceased.
BDCP may also be ceased should you change positions or the requirement for the BDCP is no longer necessary, as determined by Defence.
Should the BDCP be ceased you will be advised and your BDCP additional payment will cease.
About our Team This position works directly for the Training Section Commander and will manage all simulation systems within the unit.
As part of the training team, this position will be responsible for a range of training and licensing duties that aim to prepare controllers for on-the-job training, ensure staff maintain appropriate levels of skills and knowledge, and develop in accordance with the controller development model.
Our Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate will have current or recent prior experience in operational ATC within the tower and approach control environments.
Within the Transport and Logistics function, an EL 1 Air Traffic Controller is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve very complex air traffic management work within an integrated workforce.
They will require an in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making, and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
An EL 1 Air Traffic Controller will exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a subject matter expert role.
They will exercise sound decision-making and judgement to provide expert policy advice.
They will have in-depth knowledge of the air traffic control field and be responsible for the development, implementation, compliance, and review of policies and procedures relevant to their work within that function.
Security Clearance: Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at "Negative Vetting Level 1".
