The Role
Working in the Engineering team, the Configuration & Documentation Officer is pivotal in managing, documenting, and maintaining configuration-related information and technical documentation across Silentium Defence. You will ensure all configurations, settings, and system information are accurately recorded, organised, and accessible to support operational and compliance requirements.
This role collaborates with engineering, project, and product delivery teams to manage and professionalise technical document management systems. You will also drive the automation and standardisation of associated processes and tools.
Key Responsibilities
Configuration Management
Develop, implement, and maintain Configuration Management plans and processes. Guide teams on Configuration Management concepts, policies, and procedures. Promote standardisation of document formats, revisioning, and storage practices. Manage project configuration baselines and ensure traceability of changes. Prepare Configuration Status Accounting Reports. Oversee Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Change Requests (CRs). Change Control
Act as secretary to the Change Control Board (CCB) and manage CCB meeting preparation. Conduct desktop and Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs) to verify final product configurations. Establish and maintain documentation standards for engineering teams. Ensure accurate, up-to-date documentation for systems, applications, and processes. Organise and maintain a user-friendly documentation repository. Compliance & Security
Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure configurations meet regulatory and security standards. Identify and mitigate risks related to third-party IP, export controls, and sensitive data. Train and support team members on Configuration and Documentation Management best practices. Auditing & Reporting
Conduct regular audits of configurations and documentation. Generate reports summarising status and identifying improvement opportunities. What We're Looking For
Australian Citizen who is eligible for a security clearance. A background in Configuration Management within engineering or related fields. Familiarity with ASDEFCON frameworks and defence sector compliance requirements is highly desirable. Proven experience with documentation management systems and version control. As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
