Bungree Aboriginal Association is an Aboriginal Community based organisation which provides a wide range of services to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As the largest Aboriginal not for profit organisation on the Central Coast, Bungree is a multi-service organisation delivering programs and services to the Central Coast, as well as parts of Newcastle and the Upper Hunter in New South Wales.
The Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) is funded by Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) and provides support to Aboriginal people with high and complex needs who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness. This includes people escaping domestic or family violence.
The Role: Reporting to the SHS Team Leader, the case management role is a core program component and can be important to providing integrated and coordinated services tailored to provide practical, supportive and specialist intervention to individuals referred to the SHS Program. Case Management is undertaken in an ethical, collaborative, transparent, respectful, and culturally responsive manner and always prioritises the child and Participants safety, welfare, and wellbeing. Support provided by the program includes case management, advocacy, supported accommodation services and assisted referrals to other specialist support services to help Aboriginal people access and sustain stable housing.
The position will work closely with the Team Leader and the Specialist Homelessness Service team making decisions regarding the utilisation, management, and evaluation of resources in those areas for which the position is responsible.
Essential Requirements: • Confirmation of Aboriginality (Aboriginal Designated position under section 14 of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act 1977).
• Certificate IV Community Services or willing to work towards.
• Vaccinations: Bungree is a mandatory vaccination workplace; you will have up to date FLU and COVID-19 vaccinations (if for medical reasons you cannot get the flu shot please provide evidence).
• National Police Check (willing to obtain).
• Working with Children's Check.
• Drivers Licence.
Desirable Criteria • Experience working with vulnerable and disadvantage community.
• Experience working with high complex clients.
• An understanding of contributing factors impacting on homelessness pertaining to Aboriginal people, children, young people, and families.
