We require a person with a broad skill base, preferably, in the marine maintenance field with a diesel fitter/mechanical or trade background.
Flexibility with hours will be available and supported, including TOIL, during specific times, with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and tight maintenance schedules.
This role reports to the SA Maintenance Manager and is part of the shore-based maintenance team working primarily from our Cape Jervis location.
There is some travel required to Penneshaw (KI) and occasionally Mannum to support the PS Murray Princess.
More about the tasks: Maintain, service, and general repairs to the vessels and infrastructureConduct regular testing and inspections of vessels and machineryRespond promptly to emergency and breakdown maintenance requirementsDiagnostic problem-solving & rectificationProactively identify and report potential maintenance issues – preventative managementEnsure complete and accurate maintenance records to meet complianceWe will need you to have the following skills and experience: Certificate in Mechanical Trade (Diesel fitter, electrical, refrigeration or plumbing) - essentialMarine Engine Drivers 1 (MED1) or greater – desirableExperience in servicing, conducting periodical inspections, managing preventative maintenance schedules, and undertaking repairs to commercial vesselsComputer knowledge, proficiency with MEX fleet management software or similarExperience in Managing and Leading a teamDemonstrate current product knowledge & diagnostic skillsYou must hold a current open driver's licence - essentialWork within confined spaces – preferredProvide First Aid – essentialCPR - essentialForklift licence – desirableWorking at Heights - desirableTo be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate your experience in a similar role with the ability to provide a high quality of work, preferably in the Marine Industry.
You will often work unsupervised therefore initiative and motivation will be key.
Results driven with a 'can-do' attitude, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and work schedules, is essential to ensure the continuality of our ferry service.
