Job Description: The Vessel Master is responsible for the command of the vessel, ensuring it is maintained and operates in a safe and seaworthy manner in accordance with relevant legislation, management and development of crew, and ensuring a safe, enjoyable Whitsunday Islands tour.
Qualifications & Experience: Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Master up to 45m Near Coastal) plus Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 Near Coastal, together with tall-ship knowledge and experience, and a working knowledge of risk management and safe marine tourism operations in the Whitsunday Islands.
Key Responsibilities: Command of the vessel and its safe operation in accordance with all regulations. Maintenance of the vessel, its safety equipment and machinery. Maintaining, reviewing, and implementing the vessel SMS and documentation. Communicating regularly with vessel owners to ensure safe and effective vessel operations, scheduling and completing maintenance, and identification and resolution of potential issues. Management and ongoing training of crew, with emphasis on ensuring that crew members are skilled in risk management, safety procedures, and guest relations. Planning, communicating, and running overnight charters to ensure guests experience a safe and enjoyable tour. Only fully qualified and experienced applicants will be considered.
