Alpine MDF Industries is a large wood processing facility located at Wangaratta in North East Victoria offering permanent employment for over 140 local people.
Alpine's core business is manufacturing Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) for many uses in the construction and related industries, distributed and sold nationally in Australia.
Complementing the core business, Alpine MDF has established a re-manufacturing business on the same site where core products are reprocessed into specific building products such as pre-painted skirting, architraves, door and window components, and decorative wall lining panels.
Your PurposeThis full-time position plays a pivotal role in overseeing daily operations, ensuring team performance, and maintaining a productive and safe work environment during assigned shifts in the re-manufacturing business – Added Value Department.
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Shift Supervisor leads a team of employees, coordinates workflow, and upholds operational standards.
The position requires the ability to work a mixture of shift patterns, including day, afternoon, and night shifts across Monday to Friday.
Shift Patterns:
Night: 11:00pm - 7:06am (Start 11pm Sunday, Finish 7:06am Friday)
Afternoon: 3pm - 11:06pm (Start 3pm Monday, Finish 11:06pm Friday)
Day: 7am - 3:06pm (Start 7am Monday, Finish 3:06pm Friday)
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Foster an environment that encourages open communication and trust, ensuring alignment with Alpine MDF's values and mission.Ensure the Health and Safety of Alpine MDF employees by taking all reasonable care to prevent injury or illness occurring at work, whilst playing a key role in incident investigation, reporting, and resolution.Continuously improve and optimise the production process and systems, while maximising productivity through efficiency, compliance, and quality assurance.Monitor and evaluate employee performance, provide feedback, address concerns, and conduct performance reviews.Ensure employees are competently trained or undergoing new training to continuously improve their skills and knowledge, as well as to keep them engaged in their work.Create and manage employee schedules, allocating tasks and responsibilities to ensure adequate coverage and optimal productivity.Conduct toolbox and pre-start meetings.Monitor inventory levels, manage stock, and coordinate with procurement to ensure adequate supplies for efficient operations.Compile accurate shift reports, including operational performance, issues encountered, and accomplishments, and submit to management.To be successful in the role:Knowledge and experience in the Timber Industry, particularly in flat panel and moulding paint line production, is highly advantageous.Experience in a leadership role with strong people management skills within the manufacturing industry.Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Sound knowledge of manufacturing OH&S requirements.Experience in operating systems, including Syteline and Microsoft Office Suite.CPR, First Aid, and Fire Warden Certified or willingness to obtain.High Risk Work Licence (Forklift) or willingness to obtain.Must undergo a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing.If you believe you possess the skills and attributes listed above and want to be the next member of the Alpine MDF Team, please click 'Quick Apply' to send your resume.
