About the role We are delighted to present an exciting opportunity for the position of SHES Advisor - Health at Orica. This role is essential in delivering a high-quality, comprehensive occupational health, hygiene, and rehabilitation service to all personnel at the Helidon site and relevant AusPac regions. As a SHES Advisor - Health, you will be pivotal in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as Orica's health and hygiene procedural requirements. Key responsibilities include conducting health surveillance and medical assessments, facilitating rehabilitation and return-to-work programs, performing respiratory and hearing protection fit testing, and assisting with audits, investigations, and risk assessments
To excel in this role, we seek a dedicated health professional with a strong background in occupational health and hygiene. Desirable qualities include certification in Senior First Aid and Mental Health First Aid, proven experience managing Workers' Compensation cases in Queensland including accredited Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator qualification, and a background in manufacturing or mining occupational health environments. Additionally, it would be desirable if the successful candidate is qualified in administering drug and alcohol tests, conducting audiometry and spirometry tests, and knowledgeable in legislative medical assessment schemes, such as those in QLD/NSW Coal. Experience in occupational hygiene practices and experience in supporting audits, investigations, and risk assessments are also essential.

This will be a fulltime (Monday to Friday) onsite setup based in our Helidon Office in Australia.
What you will be doing Health Surveillance and Medical Assessments Perform medical and health assessments, including pre-employment, periodic, and return-to-work assessments.Administer health screening tests to identify and assess worker health for early intervention.Provide guidance on fit slip decisions for health assessments through risk assessments.Advise stakeholders on health assessment findings impacting work capacity or risk.Review historical medical data to plan and coordinate appropriate medical surveillance.Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential health records.Injury Management & Workers Compensation Assist with management of work-related injuries and workers' compensation claims.Engage and educate local health service providers to develop strong partnerships.Participate in claim review and rehabilitation management meetings.Plan and implement programs for preventing and managing chronic injuries.Design, review, and evaluate fitness and treatment programs.Contribute to workstation redesign to reduce chronic injuries.Health Related Services and Occupational Hygiene Program Execute site drug and alcohol testing and develop management plans.Implement strategies to support an aging workforce and transition to retirement plans.Deliver health and wellness initiatives and educate personnel on rehabilitation procedures.Assist with controls for psychosocial hazards and conduct ergonomic assessments.Coordinate site occupational hygiene monitoring and develop initiatives.Record and report occupational hygiene exposure data.Facilitate site health risk assessments and authorize hazardous substance assessments.Support regional health specialists and SHES team in health-related projects.Participate in regional mental health and wellbeing committees and the Global Health Network.What you will bring 3+ years' experience providing health services in a similar occupational environmentProven experience in a health-related tertiary qualified profession with current registration (e.g., Physiotherapy, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Paramedical Science, or Exercise Physiology)Previous experience in procedure developmentExperience conducting occupational health medical assessments and injury and illness prevention initiativesProficient computer literacy across the Microsoft SuiteExcellent procedure/system development skills and attention to detailProject management experience of multiple projectsCommitment to coaching, influencing, and encouraging a mentally healthy workforceQualifications and experience in Occupational HealthWhat we offer As part of a truly global company, you will have the ability to grow and learn in a diverse, collaborative culture.
