Our clients are the owners and operators of assets that are critical to our local communities.In partnership with the Australia Defence Force, we are seeking a SHEQ Manager to join the Ventia Defence SHEQ team, with the role based on our Defence Contract in Darwin, NT.As a SHEQ Manager, your primary responsibility is promoting a positive and generative approach to the health and safety, environment, and quality functions across the Defence contracts.Provide leadership and direction to contract teams to achieve project HSE goals.
The role will manage and develop SHEQ Advisors to ensure technical capability to drive the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the management systems to meet legal, contractual, and other business requirements.About the role:Managing the implementation of Safety Management Plans across Defence contracts.Support the contractor management system.Work with Ventia project officers to ensure that construction works adhere to safety requirements.Conduct field inspections and complete audits on contractor works and management systems.Adhere to legislations, regulations, and standards and ensure that all activities on the project are undertaken in a safe manner, with the application of suitable frameworks and documentation.Undertake aspects of Environment and Quality function.Report and advise on Health, Safety, and Environmental matters.Conduct and analyse audit results for trends and areas of focus.About you:Qualification in Workplace/Occupation Health and Safety, Occupational Hygiene and Health, Environmental or Quality Equivalent.Demonstrated senior leadership experience in safety/environment/quality or relevant industry role.Knowledge in food safety highly regarded.Formal training in incident investigation (ICAM preferred).Detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements, and ISO standards within a high-risk construction environment.Ability to develop and execute strategies to ensure compliance, minimise risk, and drive continuous improvement.Please note as this role is based on Defence, you must be an Australian Citizen to obtain a Defence Clearance.DiversityVentia is enriched by the diverse experiences, talents, and cultures that our people bring to the organisation, while celebrating and respecting the communities we operate in.
