The role : We are currently seeking a Sexual Assault Practitioner to join our team based in Kingaroy on a full-time basis. The position is for a full-time role however part time proposals would also be considered.
In this role, you will provide counselling to individuals comprising of males, females and children aged 12 and over, who are impacted by sexual assault violence / abuse and promote awareness in the community around the impact of sexual assault.
You will also facilitate group education sessions to a diverse range of clients.
Key Responsibilities : Completing client intake, including initial and ongoing risk assessment/s, safety planning and counselling when required.Providing brief solution focused counselling sessions for children, couples, adults and families.Facilitating psycho-educational or therapeutic group sessions.Managing client referrals and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive client outcomes.Facilitating events to promote awareness of sexual assault impact in the community.Skills and Experience : Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Science from a recognised institution (including eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, PACFA or ACA).Well-developed understanding of the Sexual Violence Legislative framework.Experience in intake, risk assessment, case management and referral pathways and safety planning.Well-developed written work including report writing, case notes, data collection, data entry and computer literacy skills.Highly effective communication with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to advocate for our clients' needs with other statutory organisations/departments.Have a high degree of professionalism and integrity in working with clients, colleagues, and community stakeholders.Ability to support and work with diverse families with complex needs.Availability for some after-hours work.Well-developed knowledge, skills and experience in the provision of trauma-informed, solution-focused case management and counselling for men, women and children 12 years and over impacted by sexual violence.Demonstrated substantial knowledge and experience in working with complex family systems, high acrimony environments, family distress and trauma, mental health problems, drug and alcohol and family law issues.Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in the delivery of group psycho-educational programs.Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in counselling.Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in supporting individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.Essential requirements for the role : Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences from a recognised tertiary institution.Eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, or similar recognised professional association.Have a current Children's Check Card (commonly known as Blue Card) or be eligible to apply.Have a current driver's licence.Provide a current Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check or successfully pass one.Have working rights in Australia.Why Work for us?
