Bidgerdii Community Health Service is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service, operating in the Rockhampton and Central Queensland region for close to 30 years.
The organisation is a bulk billing community-controlled health service, managed by a Board of Directors who oversee and manage the strategic directions of the service.
Bidgerdii provides comprehensive primary health and well-being services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Rockhampton and surrounding regions.
Bidgerdii collaborates with health and well-being partner agencies to enable integrated continuity of care for the community and continue to work to contribute to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policy and program reform in Queensland.
About the Role This position is located within the Rockhampton Clinic and forms part of the Clinic team which is responsible for The Enhanced Syphilis Response Program.
The roles primary task is to support the implementation of targeted screening across the Rockhampton and surrounding areas.
These activities include the undertaking of screening, prevention, treatment and monitoring of sexually transmissible infections (STI'S) in the Central Queensland region with a particular focus on addressing the current syphilis outbreak.
What We Need from You Minimum Enrolled Nursing qualifications, with current APHRA Registration (or eligibility for registration).Immunisation Endorsement and experience is preferred with current First Aid Certificate.Experienced in sexual health, and specifically Indigenous health.Nurse Immuniser certified, compliant with Queensland legislation.Hands-on clinical skills: Comfortable with ECGs, wound care, pathology collections, venepuncture, and vaccinations.Passion for Preventative Health: Strong belief in health education and preventative screenings to reduce disease within the community.Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practices, ensuring culturally safe care.Strong Communication Skills: Able to communicate effectively with your team and the community, working in a collaborative environment.Practical Requirements Immunisation requirements – It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, COVID19 and pertussis (whooping cough) during their employment.
Satisfactory Police Criminal History Check.
