Job DescriptionThe primary role of the Social & Emotional Well Being Workforce Project Officer includes and is not limited to:
Coordinate SEWB Peer Support Forums and other support mechanisms targeting Social Health staff within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, prioritizing Bringing Them Home (BTH) Counsellors, Link Up and SEWB staff.Coordinate and facilitate annual regional agency visits to maintain support networks and other mechanisms targeting managers/team leaders/coordinators within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, with an emphasis on Bringing Them Home Counsellors, Link Up and SEWB workforce.In conjunction with the Training Coordinator, support the development/delivery of Aboriginal Mental Health and SEWB workforce competencies (training and assessment functions) and provide other educational activities as required.Undertake other project work in line with the strategic goals of the Workforce Support Program.Support the development and maintenance of SEWB literature within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.Ensure continual improvement through advancing quality assurance processes for the delivery of services.Negotiate and engage external training and clinical supervision contractors.Provide reports, briefs and other correspondence as required to the Manager, Workforce Support & Training Program.Undertake activities to identify, evaluate and promote models of best practice within the BTH/Link Up and SEWB workforce.Desired Skills and ExperienceESSENTIAL – includes qualifications, skills, experience and knowledge
Degree or Diploma or equivalent qualification in Administration, Aboriginal Primary Health Care, Community Services, Social Work/Science, Narrative Therapy, Psychology, Counselling from a recognised tertiary institution.Minimum four years experience in working with groups and community.Personal Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills Ability to work with Aboriginal communities and people, while respecting cultural values and ways of doing business.Proven ability to work independently under limited direction and identify performance outcomes, plan activities and set priorities to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.Demonstrated high level written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, decisively and effectively with relevant groups ranging from senior management to frontline Aboriginal workforce.Highly developed coordination and follow up skills to meet organisational and key stakeholder needs in a timely manner.Demonstrated ability to develop written minutes and reports to meet organisational and other key stakeholder requirements.Ability to work effectively as part of a team.Sound consultation and negotiation skills, with the ability to achieve mutually acceptable outcomes with key stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to facilitate local and/or national meetings, workshops and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce training and professional development forums.High level of computing skills, especially using MS Word, Publisher and Power Point.Experience, Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of Aboriginal society, culture, health and well-being issues.Experience in working with Aboriginal people, organisations and communities.Experience in organising and facilitating meetings, workshops and forums.Experience in developing high quality professional written reports.DESIRABLE Certificate IV Training and Assessment, or equivalent.Ability to develop high quality Vocational Education Training sector training/workshop materials.Knowledge of Community Services and Health Training Packages.Knowledge and understanding of the role and functions of Nunkuwarrin Yunti of South Australia Inc.Knowledge of the manuals 'Link Up Services – Program Manual for Service Providers' and 'The Counsellors Program Manual – Bring Them Home and Link Up Services'.Please note, a current National Police Check and Working with Children Check is a mandatory requirement for this role.
