About the opportunity The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne's first dedicated busway. These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne's east.
Laing O'Rourke is part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Symal, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria's toughest traffic noise standards. The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.
We are currently seeking a Environmental Officer to join us on the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance. We have a strong pipeline with many opportunities for career progression right here in Victoria.
About the role Support the Environmental Advisor/Senior Environmental Advisor/Environmental Manager to ensure that the project correctly implements the Environmental Requirements. Research, maintain and develop comprehensive knowledge of external and legislated requirements to enable the Project to meet its reporting requirements with relevant regulatory authorities. Coordinate the inspection program and on-site implementation of the Worksite Environmental Management Plan. Conduct and lead regular site inspections and environmental audits to ensure EBTA and subcontractor activities comply with project requirements and legislative standards. Support close out of audit actions with project teams including any necessary corrective actions plans. About you Degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Environmental Science/Engineering. You will have an exceptional energy and drive to grow yourself, passion for environmental performance and determination to succeed. Team player with the ability to work collaboratively with the project team. Current knowledge of environmental legislation, compliance and reporting requirements.
