UGL and CPB Contractors are seeking an experienced Environment Advisor to join the HumeLink West Project!
HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia's eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia's largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.
The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning ~140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.
What will a day in this role look like:
The Environmental Advisor is responsible for providing guidance and expertise on environmental regulations and sustainability practices for projects and engineering-related companies. They assess potential environmental impacts, develop strategies for compliance, and offer recommendations to minimise environmental harm on projects. Identifying and implementing where appropriate initiatives that identify the Project as a leader in Environmental practices. Auditing, amending and implementation of the Construction Environmental Management Plan. Providing sound and timely technical advice, training and assistance to the project supporting the Environment Manager in developing, implementing and delivering training packages for direct reports and Front-Line leaders. Supporting the Environment Manager and design team in reviewing the Environmental Design Deliverables for the Work Packages. Supporting the Environment Manager and the Commercial Team in sub-contractor scope developments and pre-qualifications. Maintaining a positive and outcome driven relationship with key project team members such as the Client representatives and senior project management and supervision teams. What are we looking for you to bring to the team:
Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or related discipline. Minimum 3 years' experience in relevant environmental roles in the Civil Construction industry. Sound understanding of NSW Environmental Legislation with proven ability to review and interpret relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice and contractual requirements. Demonstrated ability in developing and interpreting project related documents, preparing reports and monitoring compliance documentation. Good personal time management skills with an ability to effectively prioritise and manage assigned workload. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
