Introduction of the role:
Charles Sturt University Sydney and Melbourne delivers a Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) and Master of Professional Information Technology (MPIT) (specialising in Cybersecurity and Software Development) from our Sydney Campus located in Berry St, North Sydney.
We are seeking sessional IT Lecturers who are passionate about their field and committed to teaching the next generation of professionals.
Session 1 2025 commences 3 March 2025, but the timetable is not yet finalised, so interested candidates will need to be available in person, on campus at 77 Berry Street, North Sydney for face-to-face teaching primarily during business hours once timings are finalised.
Sessional work involves:
Teaching either Bachelor (AQF 7) or Master (AQF 9) level subjects, with guidance from permanent academic staff
Delivering classes onsite, in-person, including lectures, tutorials and intensive workshops
Engaging with students through the learning management system (LMS) and face-to-face during consultation sessions as required
Marking assignments and performing administrative tasks associated with the classes.
Participating in formal professional development activities designed to enhance teaching practice. Reflect on teaching and learning practice and utilise student and peer feedback to improve teaching practice.
Teaching areas required:
Bachelor level – Communication and Information Management, Programming Principles, Computer Systems, Network Security, IT Ethics
Master level – IT Infrastructure management, Big Data, Computer systems and architecture, Cyber Security, Cloud computing, Employability Skills, IT Ethics
Applicants need to meet the following essential criteria:
A Master degree for Bachelor level or Ph.D. for Masters level teaching in one (or more) of the areas of information technology listed above
Previous teaching experience, preferably at the university level
Proven ability to teach and assess students effectively.
Strong communication and presentation skills
Effective classroom management and problem-solving abilities.
Commitment to promoting diversity and equity in education.
