SES2 Deputy CEO, Enterprise Enablement (Chief Operating Officer) The Chief Operating Officer has a central and pivotal role in ensuring that AUSTRAC achieves its vision and goals, now and into the future. This strategic position is critical in shaping the future of the agency to maintain the integrity of the Australian financial system and to combat the financial crime threat to the country. The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for supporting the CEO in leading AUSTRAC and for providing strong and effective leadership for the Enterprise Enablement Division. This includes responsibilities for key corporate and enabling functions across the agency, including the delivery of future capabilities. As a member of AUSTRAC's Executive Leadership Group, the role actively contributes to executive strategies, governance, and decision-making, providing advice and strategic recommendations to other executives and the CEO. The role not only contributes to the strategy direction and performance of the organisation but also places a specific emphasis on providing strong leadership within their division. Communication skills are key to this role, with the occupant leading a range of intra-agency committees and representing AUSTRAC and the CEO at relevant senior external forums. A high-level understanding of the Australian Public Service frameworks, particularly in regard to corporate and enabling services, would be advantageous. This role is pivotal in the provision of advice to the CEO as the agency's accountable authority, meaning sound judgement and the ability to influence are required. AUSTRAC is committed to implementing the SES Performance Framework as a priority set out in the APS Reform agenda to strengthen behaviour and outcomes-based performance management, starting with the SES. By providing an overarching set of requirements across the APS to embed a culture of transparency and accountability for SES performance, the SES Performance Framework advances this initiative. AUSTRAC employees also require an Australian Government security clearance . This includes checking your identity and background, finances, digital footprint information and other assessments depending on the level of security clearance required for the role. The successful applicant will be required to satisfy AUSTRAC's pre-engagement checks and obtain and maintain an ongoing Positive Vetting security clearance.
