About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Ormeau, handling both routine services and urgent breakdowns to ensure our clients stay on the road. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on diverse and engaging work while contributing to a passionate, hard-working team environment. During quieter periods in the service department, you'll support the production team in the workshop, applying your mechanical expertise to assist with various tasks. Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and other critical components. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to determine necessary repairs. Use diagnostic tools and equipment to assess vehicle conditions and performance. Conduct scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance to prevent breakdowns and extend vehicle life. Replace or repair faulty parts, using hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and time spent. Work closely with the operations team to ensure that vehicles are serviced in a timely manner to meet operational demands. Comply with all safety regulations and company policies during repairs and maintenance activities. Skills and Experience:
Previous experience working as a service technician on heavy vehicles. Forklift license an advantage but not essential. Have an organised approach to work procedures. The ability to work as part of a team. Be adaptable to challenging situations and changing business demands. A keen eye for detail, quality, safety and cleanliness. Honesty and reliability.
