The Opportunity
As a Service Designer at UTS, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the overall digital experience by designing human-centered services that span across the university's student and staff experience.
You will lead end-to-end service design initiatives across multiple Agile Release Trains (ARTs), ensuring that all efforts align with the needs of end-users. This position offers the opportunity to champion Human-Centred Design (HCD) principles while driving the continuous improvement of the university's HCD maturity and working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure a customer-centric approach.
A Day in the Life of a Service Designer at UTS Lead the strategic alignment of research and design activities to ensure they support value creation for UTS's customers. Oversee multiple HCD initiatives across Agile Release Trains, collaborating with teams to drive the delivery of user-centered solutions. Advocate for inclusivity and accessibility by ensuring best practice guidelines are implemented in all solutions. Lead qualitative and quantitative research activities to identify user needs, behaviours, and opportunities for service improvement. Develop and maintain user personas, journey maps, and service blueprints to inform and guide design processes. Mentor junior HCD team members, providing leadership and guidance to enhance their design capabilities. Collaborate with stakeholders to shape customer-led prioritization and ensure alignment with business goals. Stay updated on design trends and promote knowledge-sharing across the HCD community at UTS. What You'll Need to Succeed Extensive experience in Human-Centred Design, with the ability to apply design thinking principles in a complex environment. Ability to align design solutions with long-term goals and emerging technologies. Proficiency in using various research methods to inform design decisions and improve user experiences. Strong interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders and mentor junior designers, promoting a customer-centric approach. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present design solutions clearly to diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively. Commitment to staying updated with design trends and improving HCD methodologies within UTS. This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.
