Primary objective: A Senior WorkSafe Officer is responsible for providing specialist advice and information and regulatory obligations to industry, stakeholders and the public on work health and safety; transport, storage and use of dangerous goods; and the transport and storage of radioactive ores and concentrate and process licenses, registrations and permits.
Context statement: Perform the functions and exercise delegated powers in accordance with legislation administered by NT WorkSafe.
Key duties and responsibilities: Respond to requests for information and support government, industry and the public meet their statutory obligations under the legislation administered by NT WorkSafe.Provide high-level advice to stakeholders on license and permit applications, and authorisations established by legislation administered by NT WorkSafe and recommend exemptions and seek consent to prosecute.Log incident notifications, safety concerns, notifications of work and release sites.Process licence and permit applications including examination, evaluation and making recommendations to delegates.Prepare licensing related correspondence including letters and internal memoranda.Provide research documentation and assistance to delegates on work health and safety issues, preventative strategies and legislative obligations.Operate and maintain databases for regulatory performance and monitoring requirements.Audit accredited high-risk work licence assessors and approved providers of Health and Safety Representatives training.Mentor and train WorkSafe Advisory Officers and undertake other project work as required.Selection criteria: Essential: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in interpreting legislation.Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise effectively with external stakeholders.Ability to question inconsistencies or gaps in information and seek to find the relevant information.Demonstrated ability to write and communicate in a clear and concise manner and maintain confidentiality.Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively use time management skills, attention to detail and the ability to think and plan ahead.Demonstrated experience in recording information in compliance with policies and procedures.Experience with databases and Microsoft software packages.Ability to contribute to the development of processes and policies and unit objectives.Desirable: Previous experience within a regulatory agency or allied field. #J-18808-Ljbffr
