How will I help?
An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Windows Engineer within the Infrastructure and Service Management team in Group Technology.
This role is accountable for supporting enterprise scale multi-domain Windows environments across multi-hosted platform environments.
This position is open to interstate candidates as well.
Your key responsibilities may include:
Provide specialised third level support and technical assistance and monitor issue resolution to ensure issues are resolved within a timely manner.
SME to be point of contact for all Wintel systems for customers, infra teams and vendors.
Take ownership and engage to correct teams where required and drive to resolution.
Providing guidance and support to all supporting run partners for Windows Estate.
Produce detailed analysis helping the run partner improve.
Document processes, procedures and standards for the run partner to adhere to.
Review others' system designs to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources, and integration of multiple systems and technology.
Ensure that the system design balances functional, service quality, security and systems management requirements.
Maintain awareness of opportunities provided by new technology to address challenges or to enable new ways of working.
Contribute to briefings and presentations about their relevance and potential value to the organisation.
Contribution to project delivery as per customer engagement.
Producing detailed component specifications and translating these into detailed designs for implementation using selected products.
Provide advice on technical aspects of system development and integration (including requests for changes, deviations from specifications, etc.)
and ensure that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security) are applied correctly.
Proactively upskill and identify emerging technologies which could be adopted into Westpac Automation and enhance our BAU automation or stability of our Wintel systems.

What do I need?
To be successful in this role, you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong customer-driven mindset and be self-driven.
In addition to this, your skills may include:
Strong Senior Engineering Windows SME.
Strong Windows troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong experience supporting enterprise scale multi-domain Windows environments across multi-hosted platform environments.
Strong automation experience and knowledge of industry leading platforms:PowerShell (Required) Ansible (Highly Desirable) Terraform (Highly Desirable) CHEF (Desirable) Hands-on experience with Splunk would be highly advantageous.
Acting as a customer liaison for all Windows Workloads across the bank, taking ownership and helping customers with their queries around Windows Server performance and troubleshooting.
Ability to lead a team of people delivering root cause analysis across multiple technologies, maintaining ownership of Windows related tasks as the highest escalation point within the Bank.
Ability to juggle multiple priorities and assess criticality of support queries to correctly manage workloads and customer expectations.
Ability to communicate across all levels of management (From Level 1 / Level 2 staff to Senior Directors).
Taking part in a rotating roster for on-call support for the Windows L3 Operations team.
