WSP's Surface Water Team are currently seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join their industry leading group of technical specialists. Utilise your extensive technical knowledge and experience as you deliver on iconic Mine Water projects.
Based from our Brisbane office, you will be part of a Mining team who help their clients to optimise performance, boost profitability, and operate responsibly. We have a comprehensive understanding of the mining industry and current issues including decarbonisation and understand future ready strategies are critical to countering these issues, capitalising on opportunities, and adding value to businesses.
What you'll do:Providing technical guidance and assisting with the completion of non-Newtonian dam break assessments.Conducting rainfall, flow and flood assessments, including modelling, mapping, flood mitigation design, and risk assessments.Providing technical leadership for a range of water management related studies and investigations from pre-feasibility through to detailed design.Developing and supporting existing Mine Water group capability in stormwater management and flood studies (in both mining and urban environments).Developing hydrological, hydraulic and probabilistic water balance models to assess surface water / runoff flows, peak flows and flood risk, and site water management requirements.Undertaking designs of hydraulic and other water management structures for mine sites.Supporting business development activities, developing client relationships, and writing proposals.Project management, including project scoping, budget control, planning, development of schedules and coordination of staff.About you:Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field with a strong focus on hydrology.Masters (MSc) degree in hydrology or related discipline will be advantageous.Proficiency with GIS (ArcGIS suite) applications and with hydraulic and flood modelling software (e.g. HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, and MIKE).CPEng and RPEQ status or relevant experience to work towards accreditation.Understanding of non-Newtonian flow conditions and specific skills related to modelling tailings storage facility dam break assessments.Ability to demonstrate a resourceful approach to work, displaying initiative and decision-making skills.Excellent technical writing skills with experience in proposal writing and technical reporting.About WSPWSP is one of the world's leading engineering professional services consulting firms, bringing together approximately 5,000 talented people across 14 offices in Australia.
