Senior UX Designer - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract Reporting to the Digital Experience Manager, Senior UX designers, working alongside UX Leads within Website, Sales & Business Insurance are responsible for driving and progressing Suncorp's digital experiences across our insurance brand customer applications.
Senior UX Designers often set and communicate the strategic design direction, garnering consensus, and alignment across stakeholder groups, whilst guiding other UX designers throughout design/feature deliverables. Specifically, the senior UX designer will:
Lead the communication of design recommendations across the product delivery teams, whilst often being a central contact point for wider stakeholder groups. Actively contribute to prioritisation (Stand Ups) of design tasks & rituals across the team. Coach, mentor, guide, and critique other designers on best practice UX design. Assist in evolving the teams WoW design approach and methodologies. Report on BAU/project/initiative/task status and if required advise on resource needs (Lead UX & management support). Actively report and present design showcase activities. About the Team: The UX design team is the centre of excellence for UX within the Suncorp Group. We deliver initiatives across various platforms within the Insurance space.
Our team designs a broad range of optimisation solutions, new business initiatives and propositions whilst keeping aligned to company digital strategy to drive and enhance our customer's digital connections around 'moments that matter'.
A usual day will have our designers working in close collaboration with dedicated Online experience specialists (Product owners), content editors, performance & Insight leads, SEO, Copywriters and Development teams all working towards creating dynamic solutions for our business stakeholders whilst creating great customer experience.
Although the key focus for this role will predominately web based, there are a range of digital platforms and environments that all team members are expected to contribute to.
Description: Reporting to the Digital Experience Manager and working closely with Lead UX designers, this role will bring UX design knowledge to take our digital capability to the next level for our customers. We are seeking individuals who not only assist in solving high level business and customer challenges with fellow UX designers, but also work collaboratively with a wider group of stakeholders including Product Owners, Writers, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Content Authors, SEO and Technical (dev) teams.
You'll be working across predominately Web and Sales Channels (customer discovery and purchase) for all our brands, whilst being cognizant of our Service (self-service platforms) & Native App capabilities so having experience, and a portfolio (App, mobile responsive) is favourable.
An understanding of working with and applying component design thinking (especially AEM design components) is also beneficial, as Suncorp's environments are embedded in this approach.

Problem solving - Drive new design solutions, efficiently and effectively. Confidently share this knowledge/rationale with both fellow UX designers and wider stakeholders. Personable – Confident & approachable interpersonal skills, collaborative mindset to design, customer, and business challenges, and importantly be mindful of receiving feedback as well. Deliverables – Design/ Guide a range of solutions and optimisation recommendations from initial inception & problem definition stage (with both business & technical stakeholders) to final designs for development teams (UI skills). Research – Suggest direction on customer insight gathering and user testing. Stakeholders – Present design concepts and justify why such design solutions are preferable from both a design, customer & business perspective. Influence stakeholders of best practice and evidence-based customer solutions. Design Systems – Understand the benefits of using design systems and Native mobile frameworks (iOS & Android). Be comfortable working within such frameworks whilst also advocating potential areas for renewal. Workflow – An understanding of design process & workflows and be able to recognise design tasks at appropriate stage. Collaboration – Work and be involved with other teams such as Product owners, Designers, Content Producers, SEO and Developers whom all have a part to play in delivering compelling digital experiences for our customers. About You: Preferably tertiary qualification in design, computer science or behavioural sciences. 5+ years' experience as a UX designer. Self-organised with strong self-discipline. Strong ability to comprehend complex technical concepts and then make complex simple in all communications and task setting activities. Strong knowledge of responsive web, including native mobile (App) and emerging mobile, highly desirable to understand designing for accessibility to an AA standard. Ability to initially map out or oversee user experiences/features (wire flows), then progress to full fidelity UI prototypes for product and development teams. Strong knowledge of online form design and usability, including best practice UI interaction for web and mobile. Understanding or potential research & testing methodologies. Understand the thinking, principles, and benefits of Component Design systems (multi-brand/themed libraries preferable). High proficiency of Figma design application. Understanding of responsive design and build using auto-layouts in Figma. Maintaining and using design system libraries in Figma. Creating Figma components utilising variances and variables. Desirable, A Deep understanding of Figma's full capabilities, including complex prototyping and design tokens. Strong advocacy and understanding of accessibility requirements and conveying this vital aspect of design to wider stakeholders. Favourable to have background or in depth understanding of Adobe Experience Manager AEM capabilities.
