A council Southeast of Melbourne is looking for a Senior Urban Designer to join their team on a contract until 14th Feb 2025.
Hybrid working role Start 11th November - End 14th Feb 2025 Potential to extend Full time hours Hourly rates $59.58 to $64.94 p/h plus super Band 6 level Key Responsibility Areas Contribute to the planning and design of Council's Strategic Documents » Prepare and implement urban design frameworks, master plans, public realm strategies and other policies for activity areas, together with appropriate recommendations for consideration by the Team Leader.
» Create and apply design and character guidelines for development proposals within the private and public realms.
» Contribute to review of activity centres, structure plans, land use policies and access and mobility strategies across the municipality.
» Engage, coordinate and collaborate with internal stakeholders, external consultants/ stakeholders to deliver innovative and effective community consultation for specific projects.
» Liaise with external stakeholders including residents, developers, trader associations and other community-based groups to inform strategic projects and maximise their success.
Advocating for improved urban design outcomes and design excellence » In partnership with the Urban Design team, lead the design excellence discussion within the organisation.
» Deal with enquiries and discuss or explain design matters with professional and non-professional individuals and groups, and advocate for alternate improved design strategies.
» Respond to planning referrals on urban design and architectural matters as required.
» Participate in pre-application meetings with developers as required.
» Procure and manage expert urban design and architectural advice on selected development proposals throughout the planning process under the supervision of the Team Leader.
