About the role Exciting opportunities have arisen for Senior UNIX Engineers to provide ongoing professional implementation within the Department of Defence Centralised Processing (CP) Project team.
Key Responsibilities Define, install and maintain midrange UNIX serversMonitor systems in line with pre-defined operational controls, processes and requirementsSuggest and/or implement solutions to resolve problems and maintain a high level of customer satisfactionSupport the coordination of the processing environment and software distribution, upgrades and maintenanceAdminister central and/or distributed computer systemsProvide third level technical support for complex problemsBe available for on call roster, cyclic maintenance, DR, high severity issue resolution periodically as part of the defined support modelImplement system changesRun and distribute defined system management reportsAccountable for junior staff workload and completion of delegated tasksSkills & Experience To be successful in the role, you will be an experienced Unix Technical Support Engineer specifically with exposure to hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting in an enterprise environment.
Additionally, you will have the following:
A 'can-do' attitude and ability to provide leadership and technical support to a team of professionalsExperience with Unix technologies, specifically Solaris, AIX and RHELExperience in supporting Oracle Hardware e.g Oracle SuperCluster and T8 server systems highly regardedExperience with Satellite, Ansible and Nagios would be of benefitAdvanced problem solving and analytical skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsApplicants must have an existing NV1 or NV2 security clearance.
