About the role Exciting opportunities have arisen for Senior UNIX Engineers to provide ongoing professional implementation within the Department of Defence Centralised Processing (CP) Project team.
Key Responsibilities Define, install and maintain midrange UNIX servers Monitor systems in line with pre-defined operational controls, processes and requirements Suggest and/or implement solutions to resolve problems and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction Supports the coordination of the processing environment and software distribution, upgrades and maintenance Administer central and/or distributed computer systems Provide third level technical support for complex problems Be available for on call roster, cyclic maintenance, DR, high severity issue resolution periodically as part of the defined support model Implement system changes Run and distribute defined system management reports Accountable for junior staff workload and completion of delegated tasks Skills & Experience To be successful in the role, you will be an experienced Unix Technical Support Engineer specifically with exposure to hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting in an enterprise environment.
Additionally, you will have the following: A 'can-do' attitude and ability to provide leadership and technical support to a team of professionals Experience with Unix technologies, specifically Solaris, AIX and RHEL Experience in supporting Oracle Hardware e.g Oracle SuperCluster and T8 server systems highly regarded Experience with Satellite, Ansible and Nagios would be of benefit Advanced problem solving and analytical skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Applicants must have an existing NV1 or NV2 security clearance.
