We currently have an opportunity to join our Property Underwriting Team in Melbourne as a Senior Underwriter. Reporting to the Underwriting Manager you will underwrite new business and renewals of varying complexity and volume within set underwriting guidelines, authority levels and service standards. You will also have the opportunity to provide input into the strategic direction for underwriting portfolios in the region, ensuring growth and profitability together with direction and technical support to internal and external stakeholders enabling QBE to achieve a profitable portfolio and meet customer expectations. Additionally, you are responsible for building and maintaining broker relationships, and staying informed about industry standards and new product introductions.

A day in the role may look a bit like this;
Actively manage your renewal portfolio and new business opportunities.Monitor, review and comply with all underwriting standards, procedures and processes.Provide a timely and professional level of service to customers and intermediaries.Develop and improve knowledge of current legislation, best practice, underwriting, systems, products and organisational guidelines.Actively manage your portfolio and relationships with brokers and colleagues to achieve portfolio retention, growth and profitability targets.Deliver timely decisions and problem-solving solutions for customers and intermediaries.Work collaboratively with Assistant Underwriters and build relationships with our brokers.Build and foster a positive working environment.About you
To be successful in this role you will have a proven background in the insurance industry and strong Underwriting experience. You will also have the following skills and attributes;
Working knowledge of Underwriting in a Property portfolioStrong customer/broker relationship skills and focusProven knowledge of relevant market conditions for specific class/portfolioEstablished customer/broker relationship management and communication skills.Experience with mentoring, coaching and technical support in a team setting.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detailAbout QBE
