Location: Brisbane (preferred), Sydney or MelbourneFull-Time, permanentHybrid role, happy to talk flexible workingThe opportunity We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Liability Underwriter to join the Commercial Underwriting Division. As a Senior Underwriter, you will provide underwriting and technical support to enable the underwriting team to develop a profitable portfolio and deliver an excellent level of service to our customers.
Your new role Underwrite new business, renewals, and scheme business providing terms in a timely and professional manner in line with underwriting guidelines, authority, and product strategy.Ensure timely and accurate underwriting administration including completion of rating tools and underwriting analysis reports, monitoring outstanding cash items and documentation, and general file management.Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of product strategies across assigned portfolios.Referral management and provision of underwriting advice, coaching, and technical support to fellow team members on a formal and informal basis.Maintain strong product knowledge to achieve underwriting results and growth in accordance with plan/budget and monitor assigned portfolio results, identify trends and opportunities for corrective action as necessary.Maintain in-depth knowledge of current legislation, market conditions, underwriting acceptance levels, systems, and organisational guidelines.Establish and develop excellent working relationships with intermediary partners for the purpose of growing and monitoring compliant and profitable business including regular face-to-face engagement.About you Proven experience with Liability products, broad insurance industry knowledge, and strong intermediary relationships.Solid technical knowledge at high accreditation levels, with expertise in policy coverage, market pricing, trends, and targets.Demonstrated ability to manage complex risks, adhere to underwriting standards, and deliver profitable business growth through new and renewal opportunities.Skilled in team collaboration, effective communication, and supporting team development.High-level communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, paired with analytical acumen and attention to detail.Ability to manage effective outcomes and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimal results.About QBE We can never really predict what's around the corner, but at QBE we're asking the right questions to enable a more resilient future – helping those around us build strength and embrace change to their advantage.
