The Senior Underwriter is responsible for case management of general underwriting of Achmea products in accordance with the Company's standards and processes within the underwriting guideline. Together with the Farm Insurance Specialist, the Underwriter is responsible for ensuring that the risk profile of existing and prospective clients meets Achmea's Risk Appetite statement. The role supports in reaching its targets (growth and loss ratio) in line with the business plan.About the locationThe Senior Underwriter will be based in Sydney. We support a healthy work-life balance and currently have a hybrid working model in place with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.Key Responsibilities:Underwrite agricultural risks within authority limits for existing clients and potential clients of AchmeaAnalyse new and renewal business, data, claim history, loss experience, and outcome of liability decisionsPrepare policy quotes within authority limits for clients within expected timelines, consulting with Farm Insurance Specialists to review client information and clarify underwriting criteria to formulate quotationsAssess and make recommendations on agricultural risks for clients and potential clients of AchmeaEnsure accurate underwriting data is captured on systems to minimise risk and ensure high-quality output of informationUnderwrite, submit, approve or pend coverage amounts and premiums, and present decisions to managementBuild and maintain supportive relationships with internal and external customersProvide advice/consult with Farm Insurance Specialists, Product Specialist, Client Experience, Claims and Customers, ensuring escalations are dealt with and recorded promptlyProvide input into changes to underwriting procedures and processes designed to improve underwriting efficienciesMaintain and distribute insurance updates and competitor informationProvide underwriting support to ClaimsAdopt ownership for designated work as well as a customer-focused and team approach across the CompanyAchmea Australia is looking for someone with:Tertiary qualifications in Agriculture and/or Finance (desirable)3 years' experience in the financial service industry3 years' underwriting experienceUnderstanding of rural industryProven knowledge of general insuranceAdministrative processes and systems knowledgeExcellent customer focus and ability to develop long-term client relationships with a value-added perspectiveIntrinsically motivated by long-term client satisfaction as opposed to maximising shareholder valueAbility to manage competing priorities and meet targetsExcellent communications skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to work well autonomously as well as part of a broader teamWhy grow your career with usAchmea Australia is part of Achmea Group which has approximately 17,500 employees and 10 million clients worldwide.
