About the Role The Senior Property Underwriter is a product specialist role supporting underwriting colleagues within Miramar Underwriting Agency including providing underwriting services to the broker market.
This role will support a dedicated team of SME and specialist underwriters to deliver portfolio and financial performance targets.Facilitate day to day referrals from underwriting colleagues in addition to managing complex risks within the portfolio.Support the delivery of Miramar's broker value proposition though provision of technical product knowledge.Key Responsibilities Work in partnership with underwriting colleagues and product managers and insurer partners to deliver strong portfolio performance.Develop a pipeline of new business opportunities and manage existing relationships.In conjunction with Product Managers, contribute to continuous improvement in the underwriting processes.Provide technical leadership with the underwriting team to develop their capabilities, provide a senior referral point and foster a collegiate underwriting culture.Facilitate audits of underwriting files to ensure standards are maintained and assist Team Leaders with implementation of Competency framework.Encourage team communication and communicate and cascade relevant information to team from Product Managers.Actively demonstrate a commitment to driving and taking accountability for the corporate and compliance culture.Experience and skills required You will have deep experience in a similar property underwriting role within an insurance company.Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to both build relationships and influence at all levels.A strategic thinker with an analytical mindset and the ability to problem solve.Display excellent collaboration, communication and negotiation skills both internally and externally.Demonstrate ability to effectively train underwriters and to orient new experienced hire.Tertiary qualifications that relate to and enhance the applicant's/incumbent's ability to carry out the job functions.A bit about us Miramar believe that businesses should have access to insurance solutions that are as individual as they are.
