The Role We currently have an opportunity to join our Group Insurance team as a Senior Underwriter in a permanent position.
This opportunity is open to work from our North Sydney office in conjunction with our hybrid work from home options.
The Senior Underwriter will collaborate with the underwriting team to uphold and enhance MLCL's reputation among key stakeholders.
They will exemplify MLCL insurance values and ensure high-quality decision-making aligned with the company's underwriting philosophy.
Additionally, they will focus on maintaining and improving underwriting techniques, processes, and service standards, while identifying and addressing training needs within the team.
Your responsibilities will include: · Stay updated on regulatory changes, translate them into best practices, and monitor adherence.
Respond to market issues and foster underwriting opportunities.
· Assess MLCL products, ensure quality control, and maintain underwriting philosophies.
Drive consistency and improve processes.
· Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders like reinsurers and advisers.
Communicate effectively with all key stakeholders.
· Participate in training and presentations for clients and intermediaries.
Lead by example and support junior staff.
· Contribute to a strong risk culture by adhering to the risk management framework and monitoring risks promptly.
About you · An experienced Underwriter with at least 7 years of underwriting experience.
· Tertiary or industry qualifications desirable; ALUCA CPLI qualified.
· Broad range of product experience with appropriate authorities.
· In-depth knowledge of protection/life insurance markets, including sales, products, pricing, reinsurance, claims, and underwriting.
· Proven customer-focused underwriting service delivery and broad knowledge of the financial services industry and its regulatory framework.
